A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT, MICHELLE T Hello Ladies – I would like to wish a happy early Thanksgiving greeting to you and your family. If your life is like mine the hectic nature of the holiday season is already upon you. I want to express my appreciation to each of you for taking the time out of your busy life to be part of JWCL. An extra note of thanks to Kate, Shannon and Melissa for all their hard work planning the upcoming silent auction and art show: “Giving Seasons.” I hope that each of you are planning to attend this coming Tuesday, November 15, and are doing your best to bring a friend or family member with you to help us raise money for several great causes. It is a great way to start your holiday shopping or doing something special for yourself! In the spirit of gratitude I have included a brief Thanksgiving meditation by Samuel Pugh. When I read this poem it made me think of each of you ….you are the women who help “those who cry out for what we take for granted.” Have a wonderful holiday. See you at December Ladies Night Out.
A NOTE FROM ELINOR M, FIRST VICE PRESIDENT Look early again.....time to buy a lottery ticket. Please see the attached PPS sheet and complete one if necessary. Let me know if you have any questions.
A NOTE FROM KATE M & SHANNON L, FUND RAISING CO-CHAIRS Well Waterford has come and gone, which means the holidays are quickly approaching! Thanks to everyone who helped with the Waterford fundraiser… Despite the inclement weather, rain, rain and yes, more rain, we were able to raise $1501.36. It really was a team effort…we could not have done it without everyone’s help! We would also like to thank the various local businesses who donated items for the event: Sheetz, Costco, Giant, Wegmans, and Reston Dental Arts. We have written up a summary of this year’s Waterford Fundraiser. Please let Kate or Shannon know if you have any “Lessons Learned” from this year or improvement suggestions for next year! With Waterford over it is now time to focus on the coming Holiday season. The second annual “Giving Seasons” Silent Auction & Art Exhibition is fast upon us. This year we have accumulated a variety of donated items and we are looking forward to raising even more $$ than last year! Proceeds will benefit Healthy Babies Project, Camp Easter Seals, and Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts. We have gift certificates from the Tides Inn, Lansdowne Resort, Maggiano’s and Lets Dish! to name just a few. Don’t’ forget that we will have wonderful artwork available as well. Additionally, we will also have a variety of items created by our talented JWCL membership. So please plan to attend this wonderful and exciting event and bring a few friends or your husband.
