JWCL August Meeting (8/22/06) Summary

 
MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
 
1. Melissa S. was installed as Co-Chair of the Fundraising committee.
 
2. The following people have agreed to serve as Department Chairs, Committee Chairs and Project Chairs.

3. Pam presented an overview of the GFWC hierarchy and how JWCL plays a part. She also discussed the roles and responsibilities of JWCL's various Departments and Committees.
 
4. Club members were informed that the Fundraising, Public Relations and Membership committees are still looking for more members.
 
5. Member at Large Michelle T. informed the club that the Women's Club of Loudoun has invited us to their Tea that takes place on Sept. 9th from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Exeter Clubhouse.
 
6. Fundraising Co-Chair Melissa S. discussed our Brunswick Stew booth at the Waterford Fair. The Fair takes place on October 6-8th. This is the major fundraiser for the club so everyone is required to participate by either baking baked goods or working at the booth or by doing both,if possible. Shifts for working the booth are 8:30 a.m. to 1:30p.m. or 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. each of the three days. Help is also needed to do set up of the tent on Thursday and tear down of the tent after the fair on Sunday night.
 
7. PR Committee Chair Nicole H. requested that anyone needing JWCL T-shirts and Hats for Waterford sign up ASAP so she can get the order back in time for the fair.
 
8. GFWC VA Conference took place on August 12-13 in Suffolk, Va. Erin O., Pam S., Lori R. and Elinor M. attended. The GFWC VA President's theme for this term is "Getting Juiced Up". The three main areas of focus will be Leadership, Membership and PR.
 
9. A motion was made to change the date that the club works at Interfaith Relief  from the second Tuesday of the month to the fourth Tuesday. The motion was passed.
 
10. GFWC Virginia Juniors are compiling a cookbook as their 2006-2008 junior fundraising project. Each club is requested to submit 20 to 25 recipes. The deadline for submitting recipes is November 1st.
 
Our next  meeting is on September 19th
