A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT, PAM
It’s the midpoint of August and the summer days are quickly passing by … do you find yourself trying to fit in one last vacation or are you focused on scheduling appointments, clothes shopping and getting ready for fall school schedules? However these final August days are being spent, I hope you are ENJOYING them. Remember, “life is a journey, not a destination”. Enjoy the here, the now and before we all know it, it will be September!!! I am so EXCITED!!! We’re ready to start our 2006-2007 JWCL year and there are so many wonderful things to come. The board members met last week and have some great ideas that they want to share with you. Come to the August Club meeting (Tuesday, 8/22 @ 7:30pm) and bring your own ideas, also! We are looking for creative, new ways to socialize, fundraise, and mostly to SERVE LOUDOUN COUNTY. That’s what we are all about - women committed to serving Loudoun. Also at August’s club meeting we will be providing an overview of JWCL. We’ll be summarizing what we do in a yearly calendar, looking at a list of all the organizations that we support, and understanding how JWCL fits into the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC). So, this is a good time to bring your questions and invite your friends along, too. Please make it a personal goal to bring at least one friend to club with you sometime this fall. With all the great service activities, there is sure to be something that sparks the volunteer fire in everyone. See you next week! =-) Pam
A NOTE FROM MELISSA & SHANNON, FUND RAISING COMMITTEE CO-CHAIRS Waterford Waterford approaches and we need your help! JWCL's biggest fundraiser of the year will take place on October 6, 7, and 8 (set-up is on the 5th), and planning is in full gear! Please plan Tuesday night to sign up for a shift; shifts will be from 8:30-1:30 and 1:00-6:30 all three days. Waterford falls on a holiday weekend again this year, so we need participation from absolutely everyone to make it a success. We'll have more information on baked goods Tuesday, as well. If you're not able to attend Tuesday's meeting, please contact Melissa as soon as possible to sign up for your shift via email or phone [check the roster]. Thank you in advance!
A MESSAGE FROM OUR 2nd VICE PRESIDENT, RONNA Hi Ladies, Congratulations to our newest members, Joey and Ann! They were initiated at our last meeting in June. We look forward to getting to know both of you better as we work together in our JWCL activities. Please check the roster to be sure your information is up-to-date. If you have any changes to make to your information, please let me know either by email at or by phone [check the roster]. There will be several Membership-related sign-up sheets on the table: name tags, dinners, Membership Committee, and meeting hospitality. Please be sure to check out all of them on the table at this month's meeting. Lastly, we are going to begin work again on a membership directory. You are off the hook for the August meeting, but starting in September, I'll be asking for some basic information and a recent picture to include in the directory. If you don't have a face picture that I can scan in or that you can email to me, I'll be snapping pictures of you at the meetings. This directory will be a great reference for us to learn a bit more about each other. As always, if you have any questions or concerns about Membership, please let me know. And if you want to refer a friend, please let me know that too. I'll be happy to call them and personally invite them to a meeting. Thank you! Ronna
