  2. Emily H was installed as PR Chair and Kalpana R was installed as 2nd Vice President.
  3. Fundraising Chair, Joey C, reminded the members that the Silent Auction takes place on August 18th at Tarara Winery.  She encouraged the members to attend the event and bid on items.  There will be 81 items up for auction. There are only 13 concert tickets left of the 150 we are required to sell.  Any additional ticket sales will result in us receiving $5 per ticket towards our charities.  Anyone interested in buying tickets can contact Lori R.  Joey also reminded the members that the Waterford Fair takes place on October 5th, 6th, and 7th.  An email will be sent out soon to request volunteers to work and bake.
  4. A motion was made and passed to authorize the Board to research the following options for Waterford tents and spend up to $500 maximum for any of the options prior to the 2007 Waterford Fair:

    purchase a new tent for Waterford
    bullet
    purchase two ten-foot side panels to go with the rental tent
    bullet
    use a different rental company that has ten-foot sides
  5. Jennifer S, Michelle T, and Angela F have earned Recruiting Stars.  These stars are presented to members who have recruited at least five members to club.  Jen has recruited five new members.  Michelle and Angela have each recruited ten new members.
  6. Ronna informed the members that people are needed to fill the following club leadership roles:  Education Chair, Public and International Affairs Chair, and Historian.  Anyone interested in these positions can contact Ronna.
  7. The GFWC-VA Conference was held in Lynchburg on August 11th.  Elinor M participated on a Virginia Leads panel at conference.  Other workshops were help on PR and Reporting.  It was announced that GFWC-VA had won several national awards at the GFWC National Conference held in June.  GFWC-VA Junior Director, Kelly Lane, received the outstanding Junior Director award.  GFWC-VA also received awards in legislation and fundraising.  GFWC-VA will hold ther next conference in Richmond on April 26th, 27th, and 28th.
  8. GFWC-VA will host the GFWC Southeastern Region Conference in Williamsburg on November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.  Anyone interested in attending can contact Lori R.
  9. JWCL is researching the possibility of becoming a 501c3 organization.  More information will be presented at a future meeting.
  10. A motion was made to change our days of participating on Meals on Wheels deliver to the 1st and 2nd Wednesdays of the month from every Wednesday.  The motion was seconded and carried.
  11. Don't forget to sign up for a committee!  We have opportunities on the Membership, Public Relations, and Fundraising committees.  Please select on and contact the appropriate committee chair.  They are listed at the end of this summary.
  12. Emily H is a member of the Virginia German Shepherd Rescue.  She informed members that this organization is in need of old blankets, sheets, and towels for the rescued dogs.  Stained and torn articles are acceptable.  Members can contact Emily for more information.
