MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT, RONNA S

Hi Ladies,

The holiday season is here!  And as you are scrambling around getting ready with decorations, baking, and shopping, it's nice to pause a moment to remember the real meaning of your celebration.

bullet

Be gracious.

bullet

Be loving.

bullet

Be patient.

bullet

Be vigilant.

bullet

Be enthusiastic.

bullet

Be generous.

bullet

Be inspirational.

Of course, we all act this way with family, friends, and neighbors; but during the holiday, take extra effort to do so with those who bag your groceries, check you out at the register, and drive the car in front of you.  Let's also keep in mind those people you don't see:  the ones without a car, the ones who are struggling to make ends meet, the ones who can't afford to heat their houses this winter.

I know it's a tall task, but if we all do what we can, we can help!  And that's the beauty of our club, JWCL!  Each of us can give a little, do a little, help as much as we can; and by pulling together through JWCL, we impact lives!

Here is just one example:  We have some money in the budget for end-of-the-year donations.  If you have a charity you would like us to consider, please send me an email with the name of that charity and an explanation of why you think we should give to them.  We will vote at the meeting on to whom to distribute the money.

And another example:  Don't forget to bring your box of cereal(s) or other donations for Interfaith Relief.  In leiu of spending $40 on ourselves this year for our Ladies Night Out, Kalpana and her committee have worked really diligently to organize our Ladies Night In and save us that money.  Please consider using at least a portion of that windfall amount to feed those not as fortunate as ourselves.

Please remember this holiday season that you are blessed with many gifts and talents.  I know that I'm blessed to be in such good company with such fine ladies!  But these gifts and talents are of no use unless they are shared with others.  And this, I submit to you, is the true meaning of the season:  sharing with others to make the world a better place.

I wish all of you a very joyous season and can't wait to celebrate with you this coming Tuesday.
