JWCL March 2007 Meeting Summary3/20/07 Meeting Highlights
1.
The nominating committee was formed, consisting of Michelle T (Board
Member at Large), Carolyn Z and Lea W. The committee will contact members
about filling positions on next year’s board.
2.
With the Silent Auction approaching, a donation letter is being
created for club members to use while soliciting donations. A paper ballot
vote was cast to select two recipients of the funds raised (who would be
listed on the donation letter): LAWS and the Loudoun County Rescue Squads
will be included. Others (like Camp Easter Seals) may still receive funds
but will not be specified in the donation letter. Packets (which include
the donation request form) will be available for members to use when
soliciting donations.
3.
2nd Vice- President Ronna S informed the club an informal
social event will take place on March 25th at her home. This
event will be for making hand-made cards – one set for LAWS and one set for
personal use. Contact Ronna for more information.
4. Ronna informed the
club that the membership directory has been completed and will be available
on-line through an access-restricted club Yahoo Group. Ronna will send
club members the appropriate access information.
5.
An Easter Egg Hunt is being organized by the Membership Committee on
April 15th at 2:00pm at Hamilton Park. Please let Ronna know if
you can attend, and specify children’s names/ages that will be participating
along with any special instructions or limitations.
6.
Jennifer S gave an update on “Team Misty” and Misty’s current
health. Overall, she is doing quite well and was very touched by JWCL’s
generosity with the backpacks for her children. Please review the sign-up
sheet for “Team Misty” as there are still needs for meals and babysitting.
7. 1st Vice President
Rebecca M informed the club of the awards JWCL won at
the recent Northern District Meeting. Awards included: Best Project Large
Club (WHRC/Preserving Our Heritage); Membership Overall Program; Woman’s
Healthcare Overall Program; Public Affairs/Citizenship Overall Program;
Leadership Overall Program; Advocates for Children Overall Program.
Congratulations to all club members who worked to make these possible!
8. Pam presented a short
summary on the history of Women's History Month. She referenced the GFWC
Woman's History Resource Center and discussed the Oral History project that
is underway by GFWC.
9.
Fairy Tale Closet – the event is on Saturday, March 24th.
Please remember if you’ve signed up to work a shift. Additional help is
needed to pick up and return clothing racks, so please see Emily if you have
a truck with adequate capacity.
10.
On behalf of the Bylaw Committee, Lori R asked club members to review
the existing bylaws for necessary changes, questions, etc. These can be
submitted to the committee until April 1st.
