A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT, PAM
We’re sailing through spring and soon will find ourselves “beached” in summer. What an amazing “ride” this past year has been. In only a few short weeks our new club year will begin and we will install a new board of leaders for the 2007-2008 year. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to serve; your dedication and efforts are so appreciated by fellow club members! A wonderful friend of mine often said, “the only thing constant in life is CHANGE”. So true! We need change to grow, to broaden our prospective, and to expand our capabilities. And so it is that there are many NEW things happening in club:
Our next meeting is this coming Tuesday, May 15th. We will have a special guest with us that evening. Please help me welcome Kelly Lane, GFWC-Virginia 3rd VP and Director of Junior Club. Bring other “guest” by inviting a friend to come to club with you. Growing our membership is always a very welcome CHANGE!!! =-) Pam

**************************************************************************************** A MESSAGE FROM RONNA,2nd VICE PRESIDENT / MEMBERSHIP CHAIR Hi Ladies, Spring is flying by and soon it will be summer time. But before we have our summertime break, we have a few more things to accomplish! I'm in the process of organizing a pottery party at Imagine That! in Leesburg. If you are interested in attending, please let me know. We need to have at least 8 people come for the event to be held as scheduled. Now, I know you can't commit to anything wholeheartedly until a date and time has been finalized, but please let me know your interest level by Tuesday, May 15th. You can sign up at the meeting, or respond via email to me. I wanted to thank all of you who took the time to complete the Ladies Night Out survey. There was some good feedback that we are trying to incorporate into our future plans. I hope that now the expectations and the realities of these events are more in agreement because of your responses. If anyone is interested in the survey results, just ask! I'll have them on hand at the next meeting. Most importantly, we have our Ladies Night Out dinner coming up on June 19th at 7:30p. Please reserve the date for a wonderful evening! We'll be thanking all the officers who have served this year and installing next year's officers, all while we enjoy the fine food and atmosphere at a local restaurant. Details are being finalized and more information will be released in a separate email soon! There will be a sign up sheet at the meeting for those of you who know you are coming already. Final indication of attendance is requested by May 31st. I hope to see lots of you at the meeting on Tuesday! Ronna **************************************************************************************** A MESSAGE FROM THE FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE The upcoming Toasting the Stars silent auction will take place on Saturday August 18th at Tarara Winery during the Sounds of Summer Concert Series. This year’s event should be very exciting and people on the committee are working very hard to take the event to the next level. There are a few areas where we need the club’s commitment. We are calling it the “3/3” commitment. The expectation is that each club member will sell three tickets to the event at $15 each with the anticipation of the club selling at least 150 tickets. Also, each club member is expected to solicit three businesses to ask for an auction item with the expectation that they would have at least one item for the auction. The success of the auction is based on full club participation. At our May meeting, we will have tickets and auction solicitation forms available. If you have any questions, please call or email Joey C. If you would like to learn more about Sounds of Summer Concert Series visit Tarara Winery’s website.
**************************************************************************************** A MESSAGE FROM THE BYLAWS COMMITTEE The Bylaws Committee has incorporated feedback from Executive Board, regular members, and best practices into our Bylaws this year. Please review the Bylaws document attached to the May newsletter email prior to the meeting so you are aware of what will be up for vote. If you have any questions prior to the meeting, please contact Lori R. **************************************************************************************** A MESSAGE ABOUT RELAY FOR LIFE FROM REBECCA M If you are a member of the Relay for Life team, please let Rebecca M know ASAP when you will be able to walk at the event. We need to have at least one member of our team on the track from 12pm on 5/19 to 8am on 5/20. Watch your email for more information about the dinner that will happen on Saturday evening, prior to the Luminaria ceremony. JWCL is also planning to purchase luminarias in honor or in memory of club members who have been diagnosed with cancer. If you would like to be apart of this special honor, please contact Rebecca. Everyone is invited to stop by our team site at Heritage High School........we would love to see you out there to join us in a lap or two! **************************************************************************************** A MESSAGE ABOUT SENIOR CITIZENS DAY FROM KATE M The festivities for Senior Citizens Day are to be held at JR Festival Lakes in Leesburg on Friday, June 1st. They have planned something a little different this year so they are not doing the infamous cakewalk. Instead they have pulled out another Senior favorite and need our help. We are going to run the BINGO game after lunch. If you are free from 12:45 - 2:15 June 1st please contact me ASAP so we can let them know how many to expect. **************************************************************************************** A MESSAGE ABOUT “MEGHAN’S WALK” FROM KATE M
