A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT, RONNA S
Hi Ladies, Now that Halloween is past, it seems for most of us the Holidays and family gatherings come one right after the other. It's that time of year when we think about giving thanks for our many blessings. It's when we think about sharing more with others. It's when we think about making changes. This year, let's take that feeling and run with it! There is so much we can do with very little time and effort to help others, so that they can celebrate throughout this holiday season too. We have lots of opportunities coming up: give to and work at the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Coalition; give to, get training to work at, and work at Interfaith Relief; deliver Meals on Wheels along with a smile to homebound friends. Be sure to sign up! As we heard at the last meeting, the need for donations at Interfaith continues to increase. They need all the basics to help families in our community have food for their tables. I was just thinking that since our Ladies' Night Out meeting is a Ladies Night In meeting this year ,that I would bring in donations for Interfaith with the windfall. If you are willing and able, please join me in bringing the basics to give to Interfaith at the December meeting. They are in need of anything you can provide. Ideas include the following: flour, sugar, cereals, rice, boxed potatoes, spaghetti sauce, canned meats, canned goods, juice, diapers, and grocery store gift cards. Thanks in advance for anything you can contribute to this worthy cause! Speaking of giving thanks, a huge thank you goes out to Joey C, Kate H, Kate M, and Sarah M for all their efforts to lead us in a very successful Waterford Fair fundraiser. Thank you, ladies! And to all of us who secured donations (over $900 worth!), worked, baked, and worked AND baked, thank you for supporting the club! All our efforts resulted in $5251.34 gross income! Amazing work, ladies! Don't forget that the meeting this month is one week earlier than usual so as not to interfere with people's Thanksgiving plans. The meeting is set for 7:30p at the Area Agency on Aging on November 13th. Also, club dues in the amount of $40 are due this month. Please bring either a check payable to JWCL or cash to the meeting. Our Treasurer, Erin O, will be collecting them at the meeting. I hope to see everyone there this coming Tuesday night! - Ronna

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE NEWS The membership committee is going to be pretty busy for next few months. We have our Girl's Night In scheduled for December 11th at Hollyfield. This will be in our December meeting. At the November meeting please sign up to bring something to the party. The cost will merely be 1 canned food item to help Interfaith Relief. This evening should be fun and relaxing, I hope all of you are able to make it. We are also busy planning our recruiting event for Tuesday, February 5th at Belmont Green Community Center. It will be an evening with coffee, chocolate and hopefully lots of new friends. Sounds like a little bit of heaven, doesn't it? Please do your part and mark your calendars and spread the word. The success of this event will be based on attendance—so please plan on attending with a friend. The secret pen pal program is going well from what I have heard from a few of you. If you have not yet written to your pal, please do so. Its a great way to encourage fellow club members. We have a few birthdays for this month! Wish Deliah J, Stephanie M, Jennifer M, Joy T and Trina Z a very Happy Birthday!
