A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT, RONNA S
Ladies, As you saw in the message I sent out earlier today regarding Interfaith Relief and their situation, I am reminded of all the things we can do to help others in our community. There are so many areas where we can make a difference. I hope that this month, you can find one thing to do, just one little extra thing to spread the wealth and gifts that we are all blessed to have. It can be as little as bringing those plastic bags for Interfaith Relief, or you can do much more. Every little bit helps. And as we all do that little one more thing, our difference will be felt by those in need. Individually, we all do little things and as much as we can to accomplish the big things in our volunteering efforts. As a club, our cumulative efforts achieve great things! I'm so excited to tell you that representatives from our three designated charities will be joining us for the beginning of our meeting this month to receive their donation checks from us. As a result of each of your contributions, and the dedication of the Fundraising Committee, fearlessly led by Joey, these organizations will reap the benefits of our hard work. And they, in turn, will help those in need. What a difference we can make, ladies! Ronna *******************************************************
A MESSAGE FROM THE 1ST VICE PRESIDENT REBECCA M Thank you, to all those who signed up to bring items to donate to Holiday Coalition's baskets. These baskets will be delivered to Holiday Coalition on October 27, 2007, which is Make a Difference Day, and used during their Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions. You will need to bring your items to the October JWCL meeting or contact Rebecca M to arrange to drop them off at another time (before October 27th).
We are still
in need of a few more things to fill out our baskets. If you are willing to
donate laundry baskets (we need three),
toilet paper, tissues, or a $10 grocery card (we need four),
please let Rebecca know ASAP. THANK YOU!! ******************************************************* MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE NEWS The Membership Committee met in September and discussed a variety of events. We are busy planning our December Ladies Night In. Please save the date, Tuesday December 11th for that event. It will be a potluck held at Hollyfield (Kalpana's in-law's house) in Purcellville. We also discussed tentative plans for our big recruitment event for the winter. We are planning a ladies tea event. We are looking into various locations for this event. If anyone has any suggestions, please email Kalpana. The committee is happy to announce a secret pen pal program. With this program, you will be assigned a person to write to throughout the next few months. You can write once or many times. Share your favorite recipes, poems, comic strips with your pal. At the December Ladies Night In, bring a $5 gift card to give to your pal to reveal yourself in person! Sounds like fun? Contact Kalpana to get a secret pen pal today. She will email you the person's name and address. We have a few prospective members who are one event away from becoming members. Please encourage Jennifer K, Neda M and Shawn R to attend the October meeting we can officially welcome them into club. Just as we have new members joining, we also have members who have moved away. Amy H sent out an email with new her contact information. She has not gotten a telephone number yet. Contact Kalpana to get her new address. I hope all of you have recovered from Waterford by now. If you run into Lea W, Rosalyn J, Charolotte L, Dawn M or Pam S wish them a happy birthday month!
